Louis-Philippe Demers: iARTA guest artist presents his work in Tangible Media, Robotics and the Arts

Louis-Philippe Demers is a multidisciplinary artist using machines as media. His roboticsworks can be found in theatre, opera, subway stations, art and science museums, musicevents and trade shows. He has participated in more than seventy artistic and stageproductions while collaborating with recognized artists such as: Bill Vorn, ChristianMöller, Stelarc, Robert Lepage, Peter Gabriel and Le Cirque du Soleil. His works havegarnered numerous prizes and featured at international venues such as Lille 2004,Expo 92, Expo 2000, Sonambiente, ISEA, SIGGRAPH and Sonar. He received threeInteractive Kunst prizes Ars Electronica (Distinction 96) and one honorable mention indigital musics in 2005. He also received the first prize of artificial life Vida2.0 and theprize for Interactive Lighting at Lightforms 98. His latest work, Devolution, received sixprizes in 2006 including the Ruby Innovation award in South Australia, OutstandingPerformance from Australian Dance Awards and two Helpmann Awards, the Australianequivalent of the Broadway’s Tony. www.processing-plant.com
